Bicycle Traffic Skills Workshops - Free!

June 10, 2017

Saturday workshops are 8am-6pm / Tues-Wed-Thurs workshops are 6pm-9pm

Environmental Resource Center, 290 E. Central Street, Springfield MO 65802

Throughout the year, Ozark Greenways sponsors the League of American Bicyclists' official worshop, Bicycle Traffic Skills, in partnership with League-certified instructor, David Hutchison (who also happens to have beeb Springfield Public Works' Bicycle-Pedestrian Traffic Engineer!). The goal of the workshops is to teach how to properly and safely use Springfield's on-street bike route and trail network for active transportation. Then maybe try out your skills during Bike to Work Week, May 15-19!

The workshop is fun and super informative, covering everything a person would need to know in order to properly bike around Springfield. Topics include route selection, bike safety checks, flat tire repair, riding techniques and rules of the road. Bring a bike and helmet, as half of the class time participants will be on their bikes, and get to try out part of the on-street bike route network! Those who attend the Saturday workshops bike to lunch using the network as well. Check out this KY3 video of David giving a summary of how to bike around Springfield.

To reserve a spot in one of the upcoming workshops, or ask questions about Springfield's growing network of on-street bike routes, contact David Hutchison, Springfield Public Works bicyle-pedestrian traffic engineer, at (417) 496-9879, or david2bike2u@gmail.com
