Bike to Work Week in May

LEAVE YOUR CAR BEHIND --- May 15-19, 2017

Leave your car behind at least one day that week to get to work or school - by biking, taking the bus, carpooling, walking, telecommuting or any combination! In 2017, Bike to Work Week will be May 15-19. Schools are welcome to participate the week prior, if it fits their schedule better. Print and share the event flier.

May is a perfect time to use ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION in the Ozarks!
Ideal spring weather in the Ozarks makes for a great time to use active transportation in Springfield - including traveling by bike, bus or on foot. Panera Bread will provide a voucher for a free bagel and coffee, or cookie, to every registered person who participates at least one day that week, and then reports their participation on this page when the week is over. (See link to register below.)

PREPARE - Plan your commute mode, equipment & route
Use these route maps and bus maps, and the tips on our Let's Go Smart page. Or join one of the upcoming Bicycle Traffic Skills 101 workshops, taught by Springfield's Bicycle-Pedestrian Traffic Engineer (and avid bike commuter), David Hutchison. Find out how easy it can be for many Springfield residents to leave their car behind once in a while, or on a regular basis. Here's a video with tips to inspire you!

REGISTER HERE - Get a prize!
Log participation through this link to receive a prize - Whether through your workplace, school or as an individual, every participant who reports their participation results for the week to this page will receive a Panera voucher for a free bagel and coffee, or cookie, and be eligible for other prizes too! Feel free to use this Tally Sheet to track the week's participation days/modes/frequency for yourself and/or your team, and then enter that info into our link at the start of this paragraph. For more information, contact lori@ozarkgreenways.org or call (417) 864-2015.

BIKE ROUTES AND TRAILS - Learn where & how to use Springfield's network
It's exciting to see Springfield's network of on-street bike routes and trails expand to connect more people and places! Residents and visitors regularly use this fantastic community network for fun, fitness, travel, engage with nature, to benefit their mental health, protect the environment and improve quality of like for all ages, abilities, backgrounds and interests. The more people use the network, the more routes will develop!

FREE CITY BUS - Ride for free all that week when traveling with a bike
City Utilities of Springfield will give free bus rides all that week to those traveling with a bike! City Utilities opened a new multi-modal bus station downtown last year (on Main & College streets) and it's pretty snazzy... They even have a bike aide station with air pump and tools!

Print our Bike Month Bingo page here. If you reach Bingo, take your photo with your completed page and post to any of our social media to win a very cool prize! Or email it to Lori and we'll post it for you! Use hashtags: #OzarkGreenways and #BiketoWorkWeek
