A Tale of Two Trails Connecting!
Category Projects | Posted on November 16, 2015
As Ozark Greenways approaches 25 years as a non-profit organization in 2016, we're hitting a milestone. Wilson's Creek Greenway (that runs though Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park) is now connected to the very first project we began in 1991: South Creek Greenway! This forms an important 1.6-mile segment of a continuous future loop around Springfield, playing a vital role in interconnecting the city with trails and routes.
Base gravel for this section has been generously donated by Conco Companies. Paving will come soon after the gravel, to be completed in spring 2016. The timing of this trail connection is sentimental for us - as we celebrate 25 years of Ozark Greenways this coming year. It's inspiring to watch Springfield's trail and route network connect to more people and more places. Thank you to everyone who are, or have been, a part of the effort to create a more bicycle-pedestrian-friendly Springfield!
Stay tuned for information about Ozark Greenways' 25th anniversary celebration on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 4, 2016, when we cut a ribbon on this much-anticipated trail connection.
