This is an exciting time for our region’s trail system. Everyday we hear from our community of the need and desire to see our trail system connected. We realize that the time is NOW for an injection of funds into our mission - to build a trail system that connects and enhances our community. Our staff are essential in putting our mission into action. As the President of Ozark Greenways, it is my honor to kick off the Ozark Greenways Expansion Initiative. New trails are a lot of work, and we need to be staffed appropriately to make the most of the momentum and opportunities for expansion that lay ahead.
To jump-start the Ozark Greenways Expansion Initiative, we have received two matching donations of $5,000 each from Positronic Industries and The Erlen Group. This $10,000 matching gift is a great boost to the $60,000 goal at our signature fundraising event -The Fall Dinner & Party on September 19th. All gifts received on or before September 19th will help us secure the match! These gifts are 100% tax deductible. You can help us leverage these matching gifts in one of three ways:
· Attending the Fall Dinner? Participate in the Cause Auction
· Send a check to Ozark Greenways
· Donate online at ozarkgreenways.org
There is a lot that goes into building trails. Long before any dirt is moved, gravel is spread, or pavement is poured – there is a tremendous amount of preparation. After the key community stakeholders are in agreement and see the vision, the next step in building a new trail is meeting with private and public landowners to secure the land. In addition to this time-intensive work, Ozark Greenways incurs hard costs for legal fees, land surveys, recording fees, and appraisals. These funds will be used to expand our team to perform essential functions and cover hard costs to accelerate voluntary land acquisition for our top five trail corridors: South Creek, Wilson’s Creek, Jordan Creek, & Fassnight Creek Greenway Trails, and the Chadwick Flyer Trail - connecting Ozark & Springfield. ·
Thank you for your continued support and investment in our trail system,
Susie Turner, Board President
