Shuyler Creek Greenway
This trail is a part of the Ozarks Transporation Organization's Regional Trail Study and is managed and maintained by the City of Republic.
It is currently 3/4 of a mile and has picnic tables and benches. Public parking is available on the west side of Wal-Mart, and you will use the sidewalk connection to the corner of Hines St. & Cherrywood Street.
In April of 2020, the City of Republic received $394,214 in design and right-of-way acquisition funds for a future plan to extend the Shuyler Creek Trail nearly 2 miles to Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. In May of 2020, the City of Republic received an additional $471,885 to go towards construction of the trail extension. Preliminary plans indicate that this new section will tie into the existing trail segment in Republic, and will then travel southeast until reaching Elm St/FR 182. It will travel under Elm St/FR 182 and will contnue south to Wilson's Creek National Battlefield with crossings in marked crosswalks at FR 97 & FR 99.
Located in east Republic, the Shuyler Creek Greenway will provide a vital link between the City of Republic and the regional trail system. The existing trail is suburban in character and surrounded by residential lots. The planned extension offers a more rural trail experience as it winds through old growth forests and over farmland hills.
